Caito Foods, LLC Voluntary Recall Update - June 20, 2018

 

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CD) reported that as of Tuesday, June 19, 2018 there are now 70 cases of people sickened by Salmonella Adelaide that may be linked to pre-cut melons.

 

The CDC and the FDA are investigating the outbreak that has been reported in seven states with 34 hospitalizations. Illnesses occurred from April 30, 2018, to June 3, 2018.   No deaths have been reported.

 

According to the FDA website, the products have been distributed in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Dakota, Tennessee, Virginia, West Virginia and Wisconsin.

Earlier today we posted a list from the FDA of the states that may have received potentially contaminated product subject to the fresh pre-cut melon recall. Please note that the FDA has removed California from the list.  The full list of states now includes: Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Dakota, Tennessee, Virginia, West Virginia, and Wisconsin.

Caito Foods, LLC Voluntary Recall Update - June 15, 2018

 

We are updating the information originally shared on June 8 and updated on June 13, 2018 regarding the states which may have received product that is part of the fresh pre-cut melon recall.

 

The FDA is sharing additional distribution information that identifies retail locations that may have received potentially contaminated product subject to the recall. The FDA is advising consumers to discard any recalled products purchased at the listed locations.

 

The full list of states now includes: Alabama, California, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Dakota, Tennessee, Virginia, West Virginia, and Wisconsin.

We are updating the information originally shared on June 8, 2018 regarding the states which may have received product that is part of the fresh pre-cut melon recall. Iowa, Wisconsin and Pennsylvania are additional states that may have received the product. The list now includes: Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Michigan, Missouri, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin.   We notified the FDA of these additional states.
