The Freshness Grows

Caito Foods began more than 50 years ago with our founders and brothers Philip  and Joe Caito, selling the fresh produce in downtown Indianapolis along with other vendors.

 

The brothers soon realized there was an underserved niche right in their own backyard that would make retailers' jobs much easier and bring the freshest produce into homes more efficiently. Through this commitment to service and desire for exceptional freshness, Caito Foods was born. Full-service produce distribution to retailers throughout Indianapolis and central Indiana began in the mid-1960s.

 

Throughout the 1970s and 1980s, Caito Foods distribution grew as national retailers sought out Caito Foods for fresh, high quality produce. Additional warehouse and distribution center space included modern refrigeration and banana processing rooms.

 

Freshness By Leaps and Bounds

 

In early 2017, Caito Foods joined forces with SpartanNash, an industry-leading distributor of food products, to bring fresh produce to more consumers throughout the United States from the Indianapolis food distribution center.
