Caito Foods, founded by brothers Philip J. Caito IV and Joseph A. Caito, was the first company to offer full-service fresh produce distribution to Retailers throughout Indianapolis and central Indiana in the mid-1960s. A commitment to service and a focus on innovative new strategies led to rapid growth and a loyal customer base. By 1974, the company had outgrown its original Indianapolis Produce Terminal warehouse and moved into a new 40,000 square foot warehouse with modern zoned refrigeration and banana processing rooms.
The family tradition continued when younger brother Fred Caito joined the company in 1977. As a result of continued growth, a brand new 100,000 square foot distribution center, featuring technologically advanced refrigeration, distribution and control systems was built in 1984.
Today, Caito Foods has three fresh produce Distribution Centers; Indianapolis, IN, Newcomerstown, OH, and Lakeland FL. A fourth facility, FreshLine, houses the Midwest’s most innovative fresh-cut fruit and vegetable operation.
We have a new generation of leadership at Caito Foods, with Bob Kirch (President / CEO) and Matthew Caito (Executive Vice-President / CAO) now guiding our company. With their youth and enthusiasm, tempered by a combined forty years of industry experience, Caito Foods looks forward to a future of growth and success.
